Former Microsoft Employee Charged with July 2012 Theft of Windows RT Updates

Numerous news sources are reporting that a former Microsoft engineer has been charged with stealing and leaking Windows RT updates to a blogger in France back in July of 2012.

Russian national Alex Kibkalo was arrested yesterday and ordered held without bail, according to a court filing.  Kibkalo, who worked for Microsoft in Lebanon and Russia, allegedly supplied confidential Microsoft documents and information to the French blogger, according to a criminal complaint filed by US prosecutors.

In the complaint, an FBI agent revealed details of an internal investigation by Microsoft. The firm had come to the FBI after allegedly uncovering evidence that Kibkalo had sent “proprietary and confidential trade secrets” in an email to the mystery blogger’s Hotmail account.
